Day 4 of the 30 Day Book Meme

I decided to participate in this feature because I'm a new born book blogger and this'll hopefully help you get to know more about me and what books I like!

Day 04 – Favourite book of your favourite series

This was a bit of a toughie because I think all seven Narnia books are really amazing.
But since I had to pick a fave...

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis

One of my favourite phrases is "Don't judge a book by its movie", so just know that (although I love the Narnia films) the movie adaption of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was the least true to the book of all the films.
I won't go on about how this book trumps the movie, instead I'll tell you why this book trumps the others.

  • Adventure after adventure after adventure - there's excitement all the time, something fun and different every chapter
  • Development of old characters - we know Lucy and Edmund already from past books and we see how they've grown since The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It's fun for me to read and grow with the characters because I get to know them better and they become rooted in my mind and heart
  • Development of new characters - this book holds a tremendous example of how the magic of Narnia will improve a person. We see that in Eustace when he transforms into a dragon and learns humility and courage
